The Shaker Mountain Opera Mainstage Artist Program
July 11 to August 8, 2005
The Shaker Mountain Opera Mainstage Artist Program is a program that offers artists with advanced operatic skills an opportunity to use them in a professional situation alongside established artists in primary and secondary Mainstage roles. These performances will be fully-staged productions accompanied by members of the Albany Symphony Orchestra. (Mainstage artists are guaranteed at least one performance and maybe more depending on the role and situation). Mainstage artists will also participate in Master Classes and Voice Classes as their schedule permits.
The Shaker Mountain Opera Mainstage Productions in 2005:
La Forza del Destino by Giuseppe Verdi
La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini
Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
La Cenerentola by Gioacchino Rossini
DEADLINE: Shaker Mountain Opera will assign Mainstage
roles on a first-come-first-serve basis to qualified applicants.
Placement within the programs will be determined by audition.

Shaker Mountain Opera is proud to announce the addition of a four week Shaker Mountain Opera Young Artist Program along with our Mainstage Artist Program for 2005. The Shaker Mountain Opera Young Artist Program is aimed at creating an experience and an environment for singers at the beginning of their careers to find and polish their skills as an artist thereby making the next step into the profession a knowledgeable step and one that is organically attuned to the individual's skills. Young artists will also have the opportunity, if qualified, to perform secondary roles, and cover leading roles in Mainstage productions, and primary roles in The Shaker Mountain Opera Young Artist Program productions.
Classes for The Shaker Mountain Opera Young Artist Program (weekly): 3 musical coachings, 2 diction classes, 2 audition preparation classes, 2 movement classes, 3 voice classes, 2 recitative classes, daily Italian lessons, and master classes (previous master classes having been given by Lauren Flanigan, John Aler, Raul Hernandez, Carol Yahr, Carolyn James, Melissa Hart, Robert Tannenbaum and many others).

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by John David Earnest
Beauty and the Beast by Michael Valenti
(The Shaker Mountain Opera Young Artist Program performances will be held both at The Boland Theater and The Berkshire Museum).
In addition to the operas scheduled for The Shaker Mountain Opera Young Artist Program there will be a staged performance of opera scenes.
Faculty and staff for The Shaker Mountain Opera Young Artist Program will include directors, conductors and artists from The Mainstage Artist Program, along with an assigned Young Artist Program faculty and staff.
DEADLINE FOR THE SHAKER MOUNTAIN OPERA
YOUNG ARTIST PROGRAM: FEBRUARY 1, 2005
TUITION, ROOM, BOARD (BREAKFAST AND DINNER)
AND ALL CLASSES - $3700.00
Application Requirements:
· CD, minidisk, or cassette recording of 2 contrasting arias with accompaniment, made within the past 12 months
· completed application (to download an application, please click here.)
· detailed resume (include opera scenes as well as musical theater credits in addition to complete roles performed)
· 2 recent 8 X 10 photographs (please label each picture with your name and contact information)
· non-refundable $30 application fee made out to Shaker Mountain Opera
· Please note that there will be no refunds after April 15th 2005.
PLEASE NOTE: Any singer who is offered a solo role in an opera must
arrive at the Festival with the role already learned and memorized.
There is not sufficient time during the course of the Festival to learn the roles.
