Jeffrey
SpadeJeffrey Spade is pleased to be returning for his third season
at Shaker Mountain. His directing credits include a wide range of operatic repertoire,
the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, musical theater and dramatic works ranging
from Greek tragedy and Shakespeare to Twentieth century Theater and original
plays. In addition to Shaker Mountain, he has directed opera and musical productions
for the Amalfi Coast Music Festival in Italy, the New York City Summer in the
Parks series, the Philadelphia Fringe Festival and OperaDelaware, where he will
make his debut directing The Mikado this season.
Active in the field of education, Jeffrey is the Artistic Director for the Summer
Interlude Music Theater Program, designed to give students in New York City
hands-on experience in all aspects of Music Theater. As a part of the Rudolf
Steiner/Waldorf Education movement he has led music and drama workshops for
students and adults throughout the United States and Europe and currently serves
as a consultant for several Waldorf School music programs throughout the country.
Holding a B.Sc. in Music Education and an M.M. in Vocal Performance from West
Chester University in Pennsylvania, he brings an in-depth body of musical knowledge
into synthesis with the demands of stage movement and characterization needed
for the singer. He is equally at home on stage and at the podium as well as
in the role of stage director, having performed and conducted throughout the
greater Northeast Region.

Lucia di Lammermoor, The Barber of Seville,
Madame Butterfly, Rigoletto and Don
Pasquale.
