Jim Mahady Shaker Mountain welcomes Stage
Director, Jim Mahady, for his third season. Mr. Mahady received his
degree in Theatre Arts from Northwestern University, and also trained
extensively at The Acting Studio in New York City. He has been singing and
acting professionally since his debut in 1971 in The Me Nobody Knows
at Buffalo's Studio Arena, and was most recently seen in New York City as Feste
in Chelsea Rep's Twelfth Night.
From his years in Los Angeles, Jim has several principal TV credits, and his
stage work in NYC and regionally includes Times Square Angel
opposite Charles Busch, Pacific Overtures,
She Loves Me and Stonewall: Night Variations,
directed by Tina Landau. Musical highlights include appearances with Miami
Opera, Milwaukee's Skylight Opera Theatre and the Vienna Staatsoper, where in
1986 he sang in Leonard Bernstein's A Quiet Place,
conducted by Bernstein himself.
Since 1996 he has taught acting and for two seasons was producer/director of
Chelsea Rep Lab in NYC, where he directed plays by Christopher Durang, Donald
Margulies and William Inge. Now a resident of Washington DC, Jim is the Drama
teacher at Georgetown Day High School and an adjunct professor in the School of
Music at Catholic University. For Shaker Mountain, he has directed Manon,
Norma, Gianni Schicchi/Suor Angelica and Carousel.
