Maureen Codelka

Maureen Codelka is Associate Professor and Director of the Music Theatre program at The Catholic University of America, Benjamin T. Rome School of Music. She is the also Director of the CUA Singers, and musical director/conductor for many musicals presented at the University. For many years, Ms. Codelka was also Assistant Director and Conductor of both the University Chorus and Concert Choir. She also assisted musical preparation for many operas at the University. In addition, she was assistant chorus director and off-stage conductor for the Summer Opera Theatre Company in Washington, DC. She prepared the University's A Cappella Choir for performances and recordings of Naughty Marietta and Rose Marie for the Smithsonian Institution and has directed several student groups on Department of Defense overseas tours of Europe, the Caribbean, Asia and the Pacific.

Ms. Codelka wrote Reflections on the Heart of a Woman and Electric Blue, and is a member of the BMI Music Theatre Workshop in New York. Most recenty, she has been music director/conductor for Surflight Theatre in NJ; Seacoast Repertory Company in NH; music director/pianist for the new musical Mandela at the John Houseman Theatre in NY; music director/accompanist for Izzy and the Pretty Ugly Spell at ASCAP; music director/pianist at New York's Don't Tell Mama cabaret room; stage director, accompanist, musical conductor for Amalfi Music Festival and Shaker Mountain Opera.
